Check Out 4th Ave Street Fair & Second Saturday in Downtown Tucson

Happy Saturday! I’m Tony Ray Baker and I’m Michelle Mann and we’re at the Fourth Avenue Street Fair, which is one of Tucsons favorite events. This is one of the perfect winter street fairs in blue skies and it’s probably 75 degrees, you know, a typical Tucson winter 🙂 We get to stroll around in shorts and t-shirts and enjoy the street fair.

Where’s Darren?

We have a ton of really cool stuff to tell you about today, so I’m really excited about all the fun events. But wait a minute, where Darren? Usually he’s out showing houses, but today Darren is in Cuba! He’s on Clark Gable’s old yacht, I know, you can’t make this stuff up, and he is diving with a marine biology school expedition.

He’s diving the reefs which were untouched because Castro protected those reefs and made sure that no one touched them, one of the cool things Castro did for our planet. They’re studying the reefs right now and Darren’s out there for a couple weeks. He’s just living on a boat and he’s diving and studying it! Darren’s diving in Cuba and we’re hoping he’s having an amazing time, it’s a chance of a lifetime and will post pictures when he gets back!

Fun at the Fair

Back to the the Fourth Avenue Street Fair, they have redirected the Tucson Light Rail so that it’s still running and it’s going from the station through downtown to the Mercado, and then on the other side it’s running from University all the way through to the University Hospital. It’s awesome how they can rewrite that Light Rail so the Fourth Avenue Street Fair is not interrupting service!

Second Saturday in Downtown Tucson

Let’s run down some awesome events! Second Saturday is today in downtown. It starts at two o’clock and goes till 8pm while the Fourth Avenue street fair runs from 10 to five, so if you were at the 4th avenue Street Fair having fun at five o’clock, you can head into downtown and then you could continue on to Second Saturday!

Free Flix at the Screening Room

The Screening Room is showing Love Actually and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation for free, you get to go into the movies in downtown Tucson at The Screening Room and watch Christmas Vacation or Love Actually, by the way one of my favorite movies, it’s a chick flick but it’s an awesome show.

Re-Live History

The Living History Luminaria is at the Presidio Museum today, that’s also just off of downtown. Mercado de San Augustine is a really cool place, we did a feature on that where James and I and Darren went through and it’s all cool stuff to show history in action. Most people don’t even know this downtown, so visit the Living History Lumenaria tonight from six to nine.

Catch The Train

There’s a train depot behind us right now the train depot, which was completely remodeled and there’s a whole cool history to that, it’s the Tucson Historic Train Depot and they’re playing the Rudolph movie! They’re gonna do crafts at ten-thirty at the Train Depot and then at 3:30pm, they’re gonna show Rudolph.

Santa at the Stillwell House

You and the kids can enjoy milk and cookies with Santa today at the Stillwell House from 10 to five. They will have arts and crafts and photos and cookies!

A Memorable Miracle on Congress Street

Miracle on Congress Street is still going on, we talked about it last week, they do arts and crafts and coloring and photos and cookies and the whole building is just decked out in Christmas. They have a hot chocolate bar, you can pull the kids up to the bar and get toasted, atleast the kid version 😉

Christmas at the Cartel

Right behind that in downtown Tucson is a coffee shop called the Cartel. The Cartel is doing they’re doing papercut snowflakes, so you get to do a winter workshop and they teach you how to do really cool snowflakes over at the Cartel Coffee Shop. That’s going on from nine to twelve, so if you’re here or coming down here righ now, run over to the Cartel and get that paper snowflake cutting out of the way 😉

Tiki Dude: Origins

Fourth Avenue Street Fair is behind us and is already rocking, there’s a ton of people! We are standing right in front of the Hut; a little history on that Tiki Dude, that came from Magic Carpet Golf, and the owners of Magic Carpet Golf, they arranged giant trucks and a lot of cranes and a lot of people to get that guy moved because he’s a famous icon for Tucson. They moved the Tiki Dude all the way over to fourth Avenue and there was a whole parade and a lot of work went into that. I think it was one of the best things they did because now he’s an icon for Fourth Avenue!

Some Fun at the Zoo

Let’s get out of the downtown area for just a minute, there’s some really cool stuff going on if you’re not able to make it into downtown or fourth Avenue tonight. The Zoo Lights at Reid Park Zoo are going on, that’s from six to eight and that’s also running through the week, so check our calendar!

Winterhaven Lights

Winterhaven Festival of Lights are tonight from six to ten, I highly recommend walking over driving as you get to see far more, you take some hot chocolate and walk around and enjoy the weather 🙂 Bundle up, its a blast!

Get to the Gardens!

We’ve got to give a shout-out to Tucson Botanical Gardens because they’re doing the luminarias tonight at five-thirty to 830.

4641 W Camino De La Amapola

4641 W Camino De La Amapola

We just put this one on the market on sunday, it’s Camino de la Amapola. What you’re looking at is the bottom floor, it is a guesthouse and the top floor is the main house and it has a two-car garage. What I love about this house is I could get from this house to downtown in five to six minutes, or to the freeway to go to Phoenix or the airport, so it’s got a really convenient location and it’s on a nice piece of property. You can have toys out there! Whether a Polaris or Dune Buggies or whatever, it will fit on this property, so it’s a really great house.
