Just north of Downtown is the Dunbar Springs Neighborhood known as a small historic neighborhood of cultural diversity. Its’ name is derived from two prominent Tucson citizens, African American poet Paul Lawrence Dunbar, and John Spring who was one of Tucson’s first teachers. The Neighborhood was impacted by the decline of downtown for many years however, due to the commitment of the community, it is becoming a vibrant community
